NRG lifted the trophy in China after winning 2-0 against TYLOO, taking Overpass 16-9 and Mirage 16-2, in a one-sided final against the home team.

Overpass kicked off with NRG planting on A, but TYLOO were able to close the round going into the retake with a 4vs2 advantage and a smoke to defuse in. After losing the first three, NRG then were able to chain together three of their own to tie it up before two frags early on by Hansel "BnTeT" Ferdinand helped his side get the lead back, 4-3.

The match stayed tied at 5-5 after 10 rounds as TYLOO were able to change up their setups and keep NRG in check despite Tsvetelin "CeRq" Dimitrov going on a tear with 15 frags and over 100 ADR. With a tie in the 14th round, it was finally TYLOO, with a forcebuy, who were able to close out the first half in the lead as Kevin "xccurate" Susanto won a 1vs1 against Ethan "Ethan" Arnold.

NRG were then able to tie the game back up after a successful B site retake in a 4vs4 situation in the second pistol round. TYLOO were able to win the third round of the half cleanly with a full buy, but a double by Ethan and triple by CeRq the following round kept NRG up 10-9. With the American side having the control early on, the side quickly turned in their favor as TYLOO had trouble finding ways to crack the defense. So much so, that NRG ended up winning the half outright, 16-9.

NRG lift the trophy at IEM Shanghai after beating TyLoo in the final

TYLOO’s pick, Mirage, kicked off with the Asian team planting on B, but a 1vs2 clutch by Jacob "FugLy" Medina with a last-second defuse gave NRG the first round. TYLOO were then able to take the third round, but were reset in the fourth as FugLy was able to kill xccurate and go on to defuse the bomb. NRG were then able to take the early lead as TYLOO struggled to come up with creative solutions on the Terrorist side. After a very dominant half, NRG went to the half with a 13-2 lead.

With all of the odds against them, TYLOO opted to defend the pistol round with three players on B, and despite rotating early towards Mid and A where NRG were executing and getting two kills traded for one early in the round, they were unable to stop the American side from taking the pistol round. With a 14-2 lead and the money advantage, NRG were able to close the match out, 16-2, without much trouble, becoming the IEM Shanghai 2018 champions.
